How to fix the cooktop ignition
If your gas cooktop is not igniting properly or the flame is uneven, this is often caused by a simple alignment or blockage issue rather than a fault. Please try the following:
• Burner Caps — Ensure all burner caps are sitting flat and are correctly aligned on their bases. It is easy for them to be knocked out of position during cleaning or cooking. Lift each cap off, replace it carefully, and ensure it sits flush and level.
• Food Debris — Check that the burner ports (the small holes around the edge of the burner) are not blocked by food spills, grease, or debris. Use a soft brush, toothpick, or a straightened paperclip to gently clear any blockages. Do not use water to clean the burners while the cooktop is warm.
• Moisture — If the cooktop has been recently cleaned, moisture in the burner can prevent ignition. Allow the burners to dry thoroughly before attempting to light again.
• Test — Once cleaned and realigned, attempt to ignite the burner. Hold the knob in for a few seconds after the flame catches to allow the thermocouple to heat up.
If the cooktop continues to not ignite or the flame remains uneven after following the above steps, please let us know and we will arrange for a gas technician to inspect.
